Yelp Assistant for Contractors: Check Profiles, Requests, and Booking Availability
Yelp Assistant gives contractors another customer contact path to inspect. Start with what a homeowner can actually see and do, then check how your business handles the resulting inquiry.
Separate the original launch from later updates
Yelp introduced Assistant in April 2024 to help consumers describe projects and connect with service professionals. Its April 2026 release expanded the experience; it was not the product's first launch.
Yelp's 2026 announcement describes recommendations informed by reviews, photos, and business information, along with quote requests and booking integrations. The announcement distinguishes Calendly schedules connecting to Yelp from Calendly support inside Assistant planned for later that summer. Check current availability for your business before describing an appointment flow to customers.
Check business information for accuracy
Review your business name, contact information, categories, services, hours, and service area using the fields available in your account. Correct substantive errors. Describe emergency availability, licenses, and appointment commitments only when they are accurate.
Use genuine photographs you have permission to publish. Choose images that help a customer understand your work. Treat this as information maintenance, not a promise that reaching a particular photo count makes your business eligible for recommendations.
Follow Yelp's review policy
Yelp tells businesses not to ask for reviews. Do not send customers a Yelp review-request text after each job, offer incentives, or run staff review-collection contests. Yelp says its software may not recommend solicited reviews.
Focus on the service experience and address customer concerns. Do not set a review-count target as a supposed Assistant qualification requirement.
Test the inquiry and scheduling path
Assign responsibility for checking messages and responding with useful, accurate information. Choose an internal response target your team can meet. That operational target is not evidence of a Yelp ranking rule.
If scheduling is available in your account, inspect the actual connection instructions and customer-facing flow. Check appointment type, time zone, availability, confirmations, and cancellation handling. Label any test clearly and avoid reserving time your team has not agreed to use.
Keep quote requests, appointments, accepted work, and completed jobs separate. An appointment slot does not establish that a repair has been quoted, accepted, or completed.
Measure observed results
Record the inquiry source, request date, response, qualification, booking, and final outcome. If you test an Assistant answer, save the question, date, business information shown, and available actions. A single result is a sample, not proof of permanent placement.
Use those records to find specific problems: inaccurate hours, missed messages, unsuitable appointment slots, or unclear services. Do not turn a product announcement into a formula promising that more reviews or faster replies will make an AI choose your business.
