Bing Places for Contractors: Maintain an Accurate Business Listing

·2 min read

Bing Places gives business owners a way to manage listings for Bing search and maps. Start with a practical goal: customers should find accurate contact details, hours and a useful path to your website.

Find the correct listing

Open Bing Places for Business and follow the current process for finding, claiming or adding your business. Confirm that you are managing the correct business and location. Complete the verification steps offered for your listing rather than assuming a particular method or completion time.

Review imported information

Microsoft's October 2025 announcement describes the move to the Bing.com portal, improved imports from Google and a Recommendation Tool for missing listing information. An import still deserves a factual check.

  • Confirm the business name, website and phone number.
  • Check ordinary and special opening hours against your actual availability.
  • Choose available categories and details that accurately describe your services.
  • Review location and address-display settings before publishing private information.
  • Add genuine, relevant photos that you have permission to use.

Review the Recommendation Tool's suggestions in the context of your business. Do not claim emergency availability, credentials or financing simply to fill a field. Available options may differ; use the current interface rather than a fixed checklist of assumed attributes.

Verify the public result and assign upkeep

After changes are processed, inspect the public listing and test its website and contact links. Keep a record of unresolved discrepancies and use the platform's support process when needed. Assign someone to review details when hours, services, personnel or contact information change.

Correct substantive errors wherever you find them. Do not treat punctuation differences as proof of a universal AI identity penalty, or a completed profile as a promise that your business will outrank competitors.

Keep website reporting separate

Bing Webmaster Tools is separate from listing management. Use it to investigate website discovery and search performance. Its AI Performance report concerns website citations across supported experiences; it is not a Bing Places completeness score.

Accurate listing information is a useful result you can verify directly. Evaluate inquiries and search visibility using actual records instead of promising a fixed return from a few hours of profile editing.
