Business Profile Posts: Share Useful, Current Updates

·2 min read

Business Profile posts let you share information with customers who find your business on Search and Maps. Choose updates that help someone understand what is available or decide what to do next. A posting schedule is an operating choice, not a guaranteed AI citation strategy.

Choose the format that matches the update

Google's post guidance describes updates, offers and events. Use an update for current business information, an offer for a promotion with clear terms, and an event for an activity with dates. Review the available fields in your profile before preparing the post.

Confirm any price, availability or service claim with the person responsible for delivering it. If you describe completed work, use real records and obtain permission for customer details or photographs. Do not borrow a sample job description and present it as your own.

Make the next step work

Use a relevant destination for the action button and test the link before publication. The customer should find the service, offer or next step the post describes. Keep any important conditions close to the claim.

Check the post's status after submitting it. Google reviews posts, and a pending or unapproved post does not appear to customers. Google's documentation also says posts older than six months are archived unless a date range is set. Review dated information rather than assuming every old announcement remains current.

Maintain a useful routine

Choose a review schedule your team can maintain. Publish when you have useful, accurate information; do not invent jobs, availability or results to meet a quota. Update or remove an offer when its terms change.

Record what was published and examine relevant customer activity. A change in calls or website visits does not by itself prove a posting-frequency ranking effect. Use those observations to improve the information customers receive, without promising that a particular number of posts will produce recommendations.
