A Focused Review of Your Google Business Profile

·2 min read

Start a Business Profile review with information your team can verify. If you have limited time, correct a known customer-facing error first and record the remaining work. Verification and review may take longer than the editing session.

Confirm the profile describes the business

Check the business name, hours, phone number, website link, and location or service area. Test the contact destination. Follow Google's service-area guidance when customers are not served at the business address.

Choose the available primary category that best describes the business. Add only appropriate additional categories, following Google's category guidance. Do not assume a category exists or fits your business because another article recommends it.

Check services and claims

Where the feature is available, use Edit services to review actual offerings and their details. Confirm descriptions and prices with the person responsible for delivering the work. Remove unavailable services and unsupported promises.

Describe the business plainly and select only attributes that are true. Do not claim ownership characteristics, credentials, payment options, or emergency availability just to populate every field.

Review customer-facing material

Use real, relevant photographs that you have permission to publish. Check offers and updates for accurate terms. Answer recurring customer questions through appropriate available features or your website, without inventing questions from customers or promised outcomes.

Invite voluntary, genuine reviews in line with Google's review policy. Avoid incentives, review-content coaching, selective positive requests, and staff solicitation quotas.

Record changes and measure carefully

Save the edit date, the information changed, and any unresolved issue. Check the public profile after the change is processed rather than assuming a saved edit is already visible.

Local rankings depend on multiple factors. A profile review cannot guarantee placement. Compare relevant reporting periods and reconcile inquiries with business records before claiming an increase in booked work.
